How To Remember The Difference Between Its And It's
The key to distinguishing between it's and its is to remember that it’s, with an apostrophe, is a contraction, and its, without an apostrophe, is a possessive pronoun. Curious how grammar can be cozy? Try our FREE course on grammar & creativity: www.cozygrammar.com/intro/

Singular or Plural? Everyone, Everybody Knows or Know? Is or Are?

Singular or Plural? Everyone, Everybody Knows or Know? Is or Are?
How long does a sentence have to be before you can start a new one with the starting words "and", "but", "because"?
Great question! I'd say it's not so much a question of length as of rhythm. Read both sentences out loud back to back and see if your ear doesn't prefer one or the other. And notice how writers you admire handle the same situation. Some may have longer sentences and some shorter, but I think you'll find that all of them have a sense of rhythm.

Thank you, this is so helpful!! :) Another way I like to remember infinitives is the phrase “to infinity and beyond” from toy story since it has ‘to’ :D
You're welcome! That's a wonderful way to remember infinitives! All good wishes to you!
Thanks, this helped me with my ELA project.
Glad to hear it. All good wishes to you!
I am still confused with the explanation. I didn't get the answer
Thanks for asking. That shows a mind in search of clarity. Let me see how simply I can put it. The questioner notes that we use HAS with singular subjects and HAVE with plural subjects. For example, SHE HAS, HE HAS, and IT HAS versus WE HAVE and THEY HAVE. Why then, the questioner wonders, do we say I HAVE when I is singular? There are actually two different issues involved. In addition to the distinction between singular and plural, there is also a distinction between first person, second person, and third person. First person refers to the speaker or speakers, I and WE, second person refers to the person or people spoken to, YOU, and third person refers to a person or people spoken about, SHE, HE, IT, THEY. In this case, the primary rule to follow is not a rule about singular versus plural but rather a rule about first person, second person, and third person. In English, we use HAVE with both the first person (I and WE) and the second person (YOU), and we use HAS with the third person pronouns SHE, HE, and IT. The one exception is the third person plural: THEY HAVE. In that case, convention over time has combined the two rules. That may be part of where the confusion comes from. Hope that helps! The most important thing, really, is to know which verb form goes with which subject. Once that is learned, everything else flows more easily. All good wishes to you!
If have is used with the same first person pronouns I and we But In present continuous In same 1st person pronouns am with I and are with we In past continuous In same 1st person pronouns was with I and were with we Now where is first person pronouns rule???
@@TaarMereDilKe Good question! In this case, the verb TO BE (am/are/is/was/were/been/being) is an irregular verb, so rather than thinking about rules, it's best simply to learn the form by heart. All good wishes to you!
Great job brother, It is true. the world has to learn a lot from the Tamil community. Thanks to you and congratulations for reaching the treasurers of knowledge. The community who lived a great uncorrupted life 2000years ago... And still survives...

PANIC V - my grandma taught me this; just learn (PA)PANIC V; double the PA. Prepositions, adjectives, pronouns, adverbs, nouns, interjections, conjunctions, verbs - (PA)PANIC V - too easy.
Thank you! That's a great way to remember them.
IS THAT THE FNAF MUSIC IN THE BACKGROUND????
It's Marie playing the folk tune "Grandfather's Clock." All good wishes to you!
Do you say "there were a time where I was to poor to afford that" or "there was a time when I was to poor to afford that".
Since we're talking about time, the more correct way would be to say: "There was a time when I was too poor to afford that." All good wishes to you!
Gerunds always end in ing Gerunds are verbs ending in ing used as a noun. Infinitives -begin with to or not... Can also be used as nouns Root of the verb .. V1 Participle is a verb can be used as a verb phrase or as another part of speech besides a verb

Charlie mentioned what intrigues him about grammar is the difference between speaking and writing - especially American English. Learning about grammar is helpful for understanding how it all works together.
Yes, I find that difference deeply intriguing as well. At its best, grammar can offer clarity about what's really going on when we speak and when we write, especially when we have something important we wish to say. Thanks for the comment, and all good wishes!
